Phonemic awareness and pre-reading/spelling/writing skills are taught in a fun and playful format and are sequential, developmental and age-appropriate. Each weekly unit highlights one of the Zoo-phonics Animal Letters and its sound, “allie alligator to zeke zebra,” in a daily format. Lesson plans include whole group instruction, rotating group activities and one-on-one teaching. Assessments are built into each weekly lesson. Literature is tied into all areas of the curriculum. Black line masters are included.

These comprehensive lessons meet and exceed the CA State Preschool Desired Results, the Head Start Performance Standards and Federal Child Outcomes. The lessons are flexible so you can use them for your half-day centers or your full-day “3 to 5 day-a-week” centers. For ages 18 months - 6. Excellent for Special Education and ELL as well. Adventuresome Kids Manual on CD is also included which integrates art, math, music, science, drama, physical education, social studies, cooking/nutrition, etc., all taught phonemically.

Large Animal Alphabet Cards

On the front of each 11” x 8.5” card is the Animal Picture Letter. On the reverse side is the Merged Animal/Letter, a picture of a child Signaling and a description of the Signal.

Also contains a set of 26 matching lowercase letters. Vowels are signified by a “hardest worker hard hat” icon.

Capital Large Animal Alphabet Cards

Once your classroom has mastered their lowercase letters, these cards are the perfect way to introduce capital letters! On the front of each 11” x 8.5” card is the Merged Animal/Capital Letter.

On the reverse is the uppercase letter, a picture of a child Signaling and a description of the Signal. Vowels are signified by a “hardest worker hard hat” icon. Includes the two main rules for capital letters on heavy card stock.

A 30-minute video for teachers, parents and students to practice the “a-z” Signals, capital letters, long vowels, diphthongs, silent letters, and soft sound Signals. Demonstrates Signals from each Flash Card Set, including Bossy “e,” “ I Say My Own Name,” “Polite Partners,” “Silent Letters” and “Soft Sounds.”

Color Alphabet Grid Set

Before picking up a pencil and fatiguing the hand, children can learn the sounds and shapes of the lower and uppercase alphabet, and to read and spell by manipulating the Zoo-phonics Animal Letters. The Grids become a spelling board for independent, whole class and small group. This can also become a part of a sentence maker so children can create words and sentences.

Produced on a heavy card stock these 11” x 17” full color Grid sets include the Animal, Merged Animal, Lowercase Letter, Merged Capital and Capital Letter Grids.

Includes punctuation marks. Includes ten sets of each grid (50 grids total) and instruction for many activities for use in your classroom.

Over 180 reproducible black line masters. These activities are designed to develop perceptual abilities: visual, spatial, figure-ground, eye-hand and fine-motor coordination which will strengthen coloring, cutting, pasting, tracing, tracking, dot-to-dots and matching skills.

The packet also contains pages of various levels of the handwriting process. The handwriting activities will help develop letter formation, alphabetical order and word formation. Other worksheets allow the students reading and spelling opportunities. Each activity was carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of young writers.
